Drying does double duty

Moisture driven off the feedstock is condensed, treated and reused as process water, and air-cooled condensers close the steam loop. The result is roughly 99 percent lower freshwater demand than a conventional biomass plant of the same output, with no municipal draw.

Negative at the process level

Biomass carbon is biogenic, drawn from the atmosphere as the feedstock grew. A portion leaves the process locked in stable biochar rather than returning to the air. Sequestered or sold into soils, that biochar makes the process itself a net carbon remover.

Long-term feedstock off-take gives regional logging and chip operations year-round standing orders. Projects are sited against sustainable-yield baskets, so the resource keeps producing for decades.
